It all started in the Spring of 2019. Dana was wrapping up her final year at Central Michigan University and not expecting anything serious to come out of her time on Tinder. However, she was actively looking for a four-legged companion to keep her company post-graduation.

One day she logged into the app to see Markie's profile on her screen. To be honest, she was not initially sure of Markie. He intrigued her but she wasn't quite ready to swipe right on him, so she closed the app with intent to return to it another day.

Her search continued for a dog though. She wanted to adopt from the Home Furever Foundation and was actively attending their adoption events. She had submitted many applications and had narrowed it down to three dogs - Scully, Marilyn, and Sweets (IYKYK).

Meanwhile, Dana and Autumn were getting ready to go out with Autumn's friends one night. Dana once again opened the app to Markie's profile. She inquired opinions of those around her and eventually thought, 'what's the worst that could happen?' and swiped right. It was a match!

Markie and Dana started having conversations on the app and eventually Markie asked her to have dinner at Capital Prime in East Lansing on April 18th, 2019. Dana being excited and nervous for their date, left her last class early that day to get ready (sorry Max). Markie had brought a dozen long stem red roses for her on their first date, and she was swept away by his contagious smile and laughter.

On April 26th, Markie accompanied Dana in picking up Marilyn, the dog she had just adopted from the foster home. Little did she know that he was not only allergic to dogs but actually afraid of them. He sat in the passenger seat for two hours while she drove from Livonia to East Lansing with a 40lb puppy on his lap. It was that day that both Markie and Dana deleted their tinder profiles and committed to a relationship.

Dana and Markie moved into their first apartment together in the fall of 2022 which is where they have lived since!

About a year later, on October 28th, 2023, Markie proposed to Dana and without hesitation she said yes!
